We know bus drivers are important — and their importance goes beyond driving safely. School bus drivers and conductors have a significant role in the community as well as a positive influence on the students they transport. Our bus drivers are the first person each student sees outside the home in the morning and the last person they see before they go home. They focus on ensuring your students are safe during this important transition.That’s why Smart Drive believes our drivers are the single-most important link in the student transportation chain.

SCHOOL BUS DRIVER TRAINING

We align our training programs to each driver’s experience, the needs of their particular passengers and any geographic or location specific issues or risk
factors. As the safety leader, we understand that new and experienced drivers require different training and have developed complete, comprehensive programs for each level.
Examples of our training offerings include:

  • Advanced Driver Training provides the critical advanced driving strategies
    needed to prevent collisions and safely transport our passengers.
  • Sexual Harassment Training is an integral part of our bus driver training
    curriculum as it helps drivers recognize and prevent bullying and sexual harassment for our passengers.
  • Young and developmentally disabled children have special safety needs as
    well. Our drivers are trained to care for the needs of these special riders.
  • Training on Security Events and Procedures ensure our drivers and attendants are able to meet the safety of our passengers in specific event situations.
  • Complete Safety Performance Standards & Standard Operating Procedures are provided to all our drivers and staff
